Enabling Geo-Location Permissions & Why.

Enabling geo-location permissions allows apps to access your device's location data, which is used by Sparc to ensure that only authorized users access the right content at the right location. We do not store user location data, it is simply a check done between the client's browser and the site and after that is complete, access is either granted or denied.

Below is a simple guide for both iOS and Android devices.

For iOS Devices:

  1. Open the Settings App:

    • Locate and tap on the Settings app on your home screen.
  2. Scroll to Privacy & Security:

    • Scroll down and select Privacy & Security.
  3. Access Location Services:

    • Tap on Location Services at the top of the Privacy screen.
  4. Enable Location Services:

    • Toggle the Location Services switch to ON if it's off.
  5. Configure App-Specific Permissions:

    • Scroll down to see a list of apps that have requested location access.
    • Tap on an app to select how often it can access your location:
      • Never: The app cannot access your location.
      • Ask Next Time Or When I Share: The app will prompt you for permission when it needs access.
      • While Using the App: The app can access your location only when you are using it.
      • Always: The app can access your location even when it's not in use (if the app supports this setting).

For Android Devices:

  1. Open the Settings App:

    • Locate and tap on the Settings app, usually found in the app drawer or on the home screen.
  2. Navigate to Location:

    • Scroll down and tap on Location. On some devices, this may be under Security & Location or Privacy.
  3. Enable Location Services:

    • Toggle the Use Location switch to ON if it's off.
  4. Configure App-Specific Permissions:

    • Tap on App Permissions or App Location Access to see a list of apps that have requested location access.
    • Tap on an app to choose one of the following options:
      • Allow only while using the app: The app can access your location only when you are actively using it.
      • Ask every time: The app will ask for permission each time it needs to access your location.
      • Deny: The app cannot access your location.
